Private On-Site Wastewater Treatment System (POWTS)

A POWTS is any septic system ranging from basic septic tank and absorption cell to a mound.

POWTS are regulated by the Department of Safety and Professional Services and Department of Natural Resources through county code enforcement officers. All POWTS are required to be maintained, which includes regular pumping or treatment tanks, usually every 1-3 years depending on the size of the tanks.

Types of POWTS Systems

Holding Tanks

A holding tank temporarily stores wastewater in a concrete or metal tank. Most holding tanks have a float and alarm system to let you know when the tank is full. When the tank becomes full, contact us to come pump the waste and transport it to a municipal wastewater treatment facility for disposal.
